Not knowing what the problem was I started looking at the coils and could not see any broken parts.
So then checked the thermal fuse for continuity I removed the two wires from it with a small pair of needle nose pliers, it was held in place by two screws, once they were removed the fuse came out easily, I checked continuity with a volt meter placing the meter on X1 Ohms and could not get a reading.
I replaced with a new one and put it all back together the way I took it apart.
Then I plugged it in and it worked first time, I now have warm dry clothes. Read more...

Slip the new cogs into the underside of the cup, and slide the cup back down in the agitator housing using the slots on the side for a guide. (You may want to remove the entire agitator and assemble everything upside down, then flip it all back over to mount, so the cogs don't fall out).
Tighten the bolt, snap the cap back in place on top of the agitator and your'e done. Easy repair. Read more...

First I disconnected the washer from the water and power supply, then I laid it on its back.
The tub rested on the back of the washer, making two of the three suspension springs relax, and they were pretty easy to pull out with pliers. After the first two were out, I had to support the tub with a couple 2x4s to relax the third suspension spring.
Installation was the reverse of removal - install the lower suspension spring, remove the 2x4s, then install the two other suspension springs.
The tub balancing spring was easy to replace, and probably wasn't the cause of the problem.
With $25 in parts and about 15 minutes, my washer spins much more quietly. Read more...

Common Maytag Washing Machine Problems and How to Fix Them
Don’t worry if you think repairing your Maytag washing machine is difficult. Our expert repair tips are at your service to help you locate and fix any issues you may have. You can depend on our knowledge to make troubleshooting your washer smooth and effective.
Noisy Maytag Washing Machine – You may be alarmed by hearing strange noises coming from your Maytag washing machine. There are lots of moving parts inside so it’s common to hear a variety of noises like grinding or knocking when it runs. You can often determine the cause by isolating the part of the machine that produces the noises. Usually, these noises are associated with parts that experience movement and decay over time, such as the rumbling of a clogged pump or the knocking of an old drive belt.
Leaking Maytag Washing Machine – Your Maytag washing machine has many parts that manage the flow of water, so it is not uncommon to see parts like pumps or hoses become damaged or clogged over time. This can often lead to your machine developing leaks. To handle the issue, look over the area where the water is coming from and ensure that all connections are tightly fastened, and no blockages can be found. This guarantees that your machine operates without any water leakage.
Maytag Washing Machine Will Not Start – It can be irritating to find your Maytag washing machine not starting. Often this is related to a damaged start switch or drive motor, but it could also be related to a broken door or lid switch. After verifying that the problem is not simply due to a loose power cable in your washer, you should first inspect the lid or door switch for any damages which would not allow this to latch, then move on to the electrical parts such as the start switch and drive motor. By addressing these areas, you can identify and fix your problem, ensuring your washing machine is able to start.
Maytag Washing Machine Will Not Spin – Considering the number of moving parts within your Maytag washing machine, it is not uncommon to hear that some parts like the direct drive motor coupling and door locks can become worn over time. This can lead to problems like your appliance not being able to spin. By investigating these areas of your appliance, you can quickly identify your problem and get repairs underway, allowing your washing machine to correctly spin when in use.
Maytag Washing Machine Does Not Drain – When your Maytag washing machine fails to drain, it may be as simple as inspecting the parts needed for effective drainage. This is commonly caused by issues such as a blockage or restriction in a hose, or within the pump itself. By examining these areas, you can diagnose and tackle the problem, ensuring your washing machine is able to drain water efficiently.
