Magic Chef Cooktop Chrome Drip Bowl - 8 inch
★★★★★
★★★★★
42 Reviews
PartSelect Number PS11750107
Manufacturer Part Number WPW10196405
This manufacturer-certified drip bowl is also known as a drip pan, and it is designed for use with cooktops and ranges. It sits below 8-inch burner elements and catches drips and spills from the cookware on the burner. The diameter of the drip bowl is approximately 10 inches. This replacement might appear slightly different, but it will fit your appliance. You will need no tools to complete this repair. Simply remove the burner element, remove the old bowl, line up the hole on the new bowl with the terminal block and drop it into place. Make sure the bowl is flat before reinstalling the element. While you have the element out you should inspect the terminals for corrosion, damage, or discolouration. If you notice any of those things you should also replace the element and terminal block. You will need to replace your drip bowl if it is lost, damaged, or can no longer be cleaned. This replacement part is sold individually. To extend the life of your new drip bowl we recommend you clean it regularly with soap and water. We recommend only using the recommended drip bowl for your appliance; generic versions will not fit properly which could affect the performance of your elements and cause long-term damage.

Magic Chef Cooktop Surface Burner Plug-In Block Kit
★★★★★
★★★★★
18 Reviews
PartSelect Number PS340571
Manufacturer Part Number 330031
The surface burner plug-in block kit features a newer-style terminal block. This kit is designed for use with ranges and cooktops. This terminal block is how the coil element on your stove connects to the inner wiring of your appliance. Without this connection your burner element would not get the electrical current it needs to heat up. When your element will not heat at all, or if it is not heating properly it is likely an issue with the terminal block. You need to remove the element to replace this part. While you have the element out, inspect the element and the terminal for any corrosion, arcing, or discoloration. If you notice any damage to the element or the terminals we recommend you replace this part as well. This kit includes two metal brackets, two pre-crimped high-temperature wire leads, two ceramic wire nuts, two heat-shrinking insulators, and a mounting screw. Before you begin this repair, make sure you have unplugged your appliance.

Surface elements quit working
Drilled out old and broken hold down clips, installed new ones(4). Cut old wires attached to surface plug in block, striped wires, and attached new plugin kit(4), warmed up heat shrink with a hair dryer, put in new drip bowels, the stove is like new.
I ordered the parts on line early one morning, the next day they were at my door and installed that day, everything that I ordered was there, and fit properly.

Stove top element not working due to bad receptacle.
Turned off the power at the breaker box, cut the wires approximately 5 inches from the bad receptacle and removed it after removing one screw. Stripped back the wires about 1/2 inch and attached the new wires with the ceramic wire nuts provided and secured the receptacle back in place with the new screw provided in the kit.
My sister's husband wanted to scrap the whole range but I repaired it with $14.00 worth of parts.
The element is working great now.

Burner element broke and drip bowls needed to be replaced.
I went to the local discount mart and bought drip bowls. The ones available at that store did not fit, so I decided to buy directly from the stove's manufacturer distributor.

The drip pans were simple to replace, as was the new burner element. My old one had broke and was still working, but I decided to replace it when I ordered the drip pans.

Everything was easy to install and it looks like a brand new new stove top! I saved a lot of money doing it myself.

Oven not working
There were no flames when I turned the oven on, so the first thing I did was narrow down the problem through the process of elimination. It was really a fairly simple system to work on. I verified that it was getting power to the hot surface igniter (which it was). You can check this visibly by seeing if it heats up and glows, but that is not enough. You also have to make sure the igniter is drawing enough amps to open the oven safety valve ( about 3-3.5 amps). You do this by leaving everything connected and turning the oven on as normal. You clamp the Amp Meter (a clamp style Amp Meter works best)to the wires going into the Hot Surface Igniter and checking amperage. If the amperage is to low then the igniter is not pulling enough to open the valve and you should replace it. If the amperage is as it should be then the valve is not opening. The next thing is to turn off the gas to the appliance and unplug the electricity before starting any other work. I removed the oven racks and bottom decking out of the way so I would have room to work. I removed the oven burner to get to the oven safety valve, which is held in by two screws. I disconnected the gas line coming in to the valve using an adjustable wrench, removed the two wires (noting their position) and removed the two screws with a phillips head screwdriver. I replaced the valve with a new one and hooked everything back up in reverse order. That was all there was to it. I also replaced a couple of burners on the top of the stove while I was at it, only because they were difficult to light sometimes. They simply twist out counterclockwise and have two wires that you can't get confused because they have different size connectors and will only go on one way. This 10 year old stove now works like a new one. Read more...

Magic Chef Cooktop Surface Burner Switch - 240V
★★★★★
★★★★★
11 Reviews
PartSelect Number PS12347301
Manufacturer Part Number W11120791
This surface burner switch, also known as an infinite switch, controls and regulates the heat output of the burners on a stovetop. The user simply adjusts the knob on the user interface panel, which in turn controls this switch. Made for various ranges, wall ovens and cooktops, this is a genuine OEM part that comes by itself, without any hardware like screws or nuts. This burner switch is an electrical component that you also handle directly, so it can become faulty leading to problems like your stovetop not heating enough, overheating or staying at a fixed heat. This burner switch is a vital component for your stovetop and if it presents any of those issues, it needs to be replaced immediately. A screwdriver, set of pliers and wiring diagram will be needed for the replacement and installation process, and you will need to remove your appliance from the wall outlet first. Remove the knobs from the control panel and then gain access to the underneath portion of it with your screwdriver and disconnect the switch. Remove the wires from the burner switch with a set of pliers and disconnect the securing screws holding the switch in place. Now, you can install the new switch and reassemble the panel, being mindful of wiring each connector to the appropriate wire.

Installation Instructions
James H from Oxford, NY
Burner had one temperature--hot, regardless of setting
1. Killed power and removed the regulator's knob, noted the position of the old control.
2. Took off the cover for the center vent and loosened the two screw holding the housing in place--the screws didn't have to come out completely as it is a U-shaped friction hold.
3. Unscrewed the two screws holding the old control switch in place--lifted the housing enough to get at the old switch and carefully pulled it loose--it was a front burner so the control switch was about as far back as it could be but still wasn't that hard to get at.
4. Turned the new switch to orient the wire connectors, then, using a needle-nose pliers, removed each friction connector, one at a time, and fitted them on the new switch (note: one of the wires fitted best if it went under as opposed to around the base of the new switch).
5. Replaced the control back through the housing and screwed it in place, making sure the orientation of the control matched the way it looked originally.
6. Slide the housing back over the two screws and tightened, replace vent.
7. Replaced the knob and turned on the power.

(The above took me about twice as long to write as it did to make the repair and I write professionally but am not a professional electrician.)

Also, I bought a second control switch because, given the age of the unit, I'm sure another one will go. The second one will assure that it won't happen :-).
