★★★★★
★★★★★
24 Reviews
PartSelect Number PS267529
Manufacturer Part Number WE25M40
This rear drum bearing kit includes a shaft, ground strap, bearing, seven screws, and installation instructions. The bearing plate comes with a slot in it for the ground strap. This part helps keep your dryer running as smoothly as possible with as little noise as possible by supporting the back of the dryer drum and reducing friction as the drum rotates. Over time, your drum bearing will wear out, cause your dryer to be noisy, and you will have to replace it. There may be some sharp internal parts, so be sure to wear work gloves during repair.

This door latch is designed for your dryer, and is mounted to the dryer frame. The door latch holds the door of your dryer closed while the machine is operating. If your dryer door is not catching on the door strike, and will not stay closed, you may need to replace the door latch. This part is square in shape, and is approximately 3/4-inch in length, by 3/4-inch in width. The part is made of white plastic with a metal tab. To access the door latch, you will need to remove the top and side panels on your dryer. To complete this repair, simply pop the damaged door latch out of position, and snap the new one into place.

Loud, rhythmic squealing when dryer was running
Opened up machine per instructions.
After examining drum slides and rear drum bearing, determined that all should be replaced due to excessive wear. Drum slides were the chief cause of the squealing, and they were as simple to replace as removing 4 nut drive screws, pulling off the old parts, and replacing with new. The drum bearing had to be coaxed out by tapping with a screwdriver, but the old was just able to be pushed in. All parts came with instructions, so the repair was easy. And no more squealing!

Dryer made excessively loud noise when running.
I initially opened the front of the dryer and noticed that the drum slides that the drum rides on in the front of the dryer were excessively worn. I then removed the drum and noticed that the plastic bearing that supported the drum in the rear was cracked and the washer(?) appered to be disintigrating. I ordered and replaced the drum slides and rear bearing. The dryer was still making too much noise. I ran the motor with the drum removed and realized that they motor was the remaining source of the excessive noise. I then ordered and replaced the motor with a new one and this solved the problem. Total cost was around $140. Note that when ordering a new motor, the instructions on the web site indicate that you need to order the motor pulley if your existing motor has a pressed on pulley. The new motor was a kit that came with the pulley included, and therefore the additional part was not needed, and had to be returned. The instructional videos and parts schematics on the web site were very helpful. Read more...

Intermittent then no heat
First guess is one of the thermostats. Used ohm meter to test all 5 thermostats. All looked good. (first clue) Bypassed all thermostats, dryer worked. Ordered thermostats. (a couple at a time) Replaced thermostats. Dryer did not work. Tested heating element. Looked good. (Second Clue) Replaced heating element. Still no go! Dryer started working then stopped. Very confused. Ordered timer. Replaced timer. Everything great! Works like a new one. Moral to this story, trust your meter! Should have been a very easy repair. Replaced belt while dryer apart. totally unpredictable drying temp
Pull the dryer away from the wall, UNPLUG, and remove vent hose. Insert thin metal sheet under the front corners of the lid, push in (hard) while lifting up the lid. The lid will pop up and hinge over and out of the way. Make a drawing of the wiring layout for the lamp and switch on the door, disconect the 3 wires, and remove the entire front panel (2 bolts inside at the top, then lift slightly and pull the panel away). From the back there is a panel for access to the motor/drive belt assy. Remove that panel, reach in, and release the spring loaded pressure on the drive belt. Disengage the Belt. Back at the front of the machine, working inside the drum remove the 3 allen head bolts at the center of the drum. Support the drum - it will drop a little. You can now lift the drum from the front and ease it out with the belt. There is a thermostat at 1 O'clock on the coil rim at the back (2 wires attached to it). To replace, disconnect the 2 wires. Remove the one or two screws, and pull out the thermostat. Install the new thermostat, attach the wires (either way), DONE. Other thermostat is at the bottom in the exhaust duct. Change it the same was as the other, reconnect wires. Remove the belt from the drum and and start working the drum back into the dryer. Loop the new belt over the drum, slide the drum all the way back. I slide 2 long screwdrivers through the screwholes in the drum, and looking down from the top align them with with the holes in the mounting plate. Slide the drum all the way in, reinstall the 3 allen head screws. Reinstall the front panel. Reattach and check all wiring (compare the front panel wiring to your drawing). Lower and snap in the lid. At the back of the unit reach back to the belt and reattach it to the spring assembly. Reinstall that panel, reconnect the exhause duct, slide the unit back and plug in.

Note that the heating problem was the thermostats, but I changed the belt since I was there anyway.

drive belt broke
I unplugged the machine, then unscrewed two screws that hold the top and front together, and lifted off the front door. When I pulled the drum out through the front, the belt came out broken. It was the original, so this is not a surprise. I ALWAYS take this dryer apart once a year to vacuum it out, clean all the ducts and fan, and check everything. This dryer is fifteen years old, and has survived three teenage daughters with their laundry. This time I noticed that the sliders on the front door were worn, blower wheel was loose, and rear bearing was loose,so I ordered everything. The parts came in three days. By then, you could no longer see the basement floor with piles of laundry and Friday night dates looming. I had everything replaced and working in under an hour, after which there was a conflict over who gets to use it first. Hey, I only fixed it, then I walked away. So, for 140 bucks, I have now replaced virtually every critical part, and with no rust, this thing will last as long as these guys have parts. I'm happy, my daughters are happy, and that means the wife is happy. And we all know what that means... Read more...
